How to Block / Unblock a Website in Your Windows Computer?

Sometimes people want to block any website in their computer. For example if you are a father / mother and want to keep your child away from facebook or any other social networking website etc. so you want to block these site but don't know how to do it. You can block that specific website in your computer by a simple method and then unblock it with the same method. There is no use of any external software.


This tutorial is for those people who want to block any website or websites in their PC.


You can do this by these simple steps given below. It will take only a minute or two. Just FOLLOW


1. Open the "Start" menu by clicking its button from your computer's taskbar and then click "Run"
2. In "Run" window, type the following line in the text box and click "OK"

notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

When you will type the above line there, a text file will be opened in notepad.
3. In the end of the page, type the following line

127.0.0.1       blocked-site-name.com

4. Change "blocked-site-name.com" with the site's domain which you want to block. You can add as many sites as you wish (like this picture)

5. Save the file or press Ctrl + S and restart your browser(s)
6. Now the MOST DIFFICULT STEP is to check that the website is blocked :-D

Note: For unblocking any website, simply remove the site url / address from this text file.
